J.Mendes Nobre: Crafting Timeless Elegance in Marble Since 1986

At the heart of the stone industry stands a name that has endured the test of time: J. Mendes Nobre. Established in 1986, the company has become synonymous with the timeless beauty and excellence of natural marble.

Founded by the visionary Joaquim Mendes Nobre, the company began as a small scrap and marble workshop. Through strategic growth, including the acquisition of quarries and properties, J. Mendes Nobre transitioned away from the scrap business and evolved into a fully integrated marble trading company. Over the years, this solid foundation enabled the company to expand internationally, serving clients across the globe.

In 1989, three years after its founding, J. Mendes Nobre acquired the D’EL REY Quarry (Rosa Portugallo). This quarry is the exclusive source of Rosa D’EL Rey, a natural stone renowned for its distinctive elegance and royal appeal. Today, Rosa D’EL Rey stands as one of the most recognized and prestigious marbles extracted in Portugal.

Beyond Rosa D’EL Rey, the D’EL REY Quarry yields more than six additional marble varieties, including Cream Champagne, Black Milky Way, Blue Wavy, Arabescato, and Cream D’EL Rey. This remarkable diversity positions the quarry as one of the most versatile and valuable marble sources in the region.
